How long does it take to learn kitesurfing?
It takes around 12 hours of IKO-certified lessons to ride independently. With the consistent wind and flat lagoon in Icaraizinho, progression tends to be faster than at other Brazilian spots.
Do I need prior experience?
No. The beginner course starts from zero — safety theory, wind window, kite control on land, and a gradual progression into the water. There is no fixed minimum age: children often start from 7–8 years old, always in a private lesson with equipment adapted to their weight.
When is the best time to visit?
July to January for guaranteed wind. The peak window is August to October with SE trade winds at 25–30 knots. Outside this period wind still exists but is less predictable.
