Every lesson at the Cabana do Kite kitesurf school in Icaraizinho follows the same logic: safety first, water second. This is how the instructor runs a 2-hour session.
You arrive at the Cabana, right on Icaraizinho beach, and the instructor goes through the equipment, the day's wind and the wind window. Fifteen to thirty minutes of safety theory before touching the kite — the foundation of everything.
Still no board. You learn to set up the equipment, to fly the kite on the ground and in shallow water and to trigger the safety systems. In the first sessions this stage takes around an hour.
Into the water without a board, using the kite's pull to move. This is where the power-control instinct is born, with the instructor talking on the radio the whole time.
The board comes into play: foot position, generating speed with the kite and the first attempts to get up. One to two hours of session, in the shallow lagoon, where you can stand up and start again.
You ride, fall, get up and ride again, with constant feedback from the instructor. Over several lessons you reach independent riding — around 12 hours of lessons in total.
The private lesson is the right format for the first hours: the instructor's full attention, an adapted pace and maximum safety. Couples and friends can switch to the duo lesson once kite control on land is done.

Board recovery, water start and first rides. This is the phase where most students manage their first short rides and start riding in both directions.
Riding consistently both ways, controlling speed, going upwind and heading out and back on your own. With Icaraizinho's steady wind, students get here after around 12 hours of lessons on average.

No. Cabana do Kite's beginner lessons start from zero: a safety briefing on the sand, kite control, body drag and water start, always with IKO and ABK certified instructors. You need to be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water. Intermediate and advanced riders can book coaching to work on specific tricks.
The wind season in Icaraizinho runs from July to January, with a peak from August to October, when the wind is strongest and most regular. For beginners, 18 to 22 knots is ideal, which usually means July, early August and November. From February to June there is still wind, but it is irregular.
Cabana do Kite lessons include the full equipment — a right-sized kite, a board suited to your level, vest, helmet and harness — with Duotone and Ozone gear checked regularly. You also get radio support throughout the session and a lesson adapted to your level. Just bring swimwear, water-resistant sunscreen and the will to learn.
There is no fixed minimum age. Each case is assessed individually, based on weight and comfort in the water, always in a private lesson with equipment adapted to their weight. Adults of any age are welcome. Message us on WhatsApp with the student’s age and level and we will set up the right lesson.

Cabana do Kite is on Av. Dep. Roberto Mesquita, right on the sand of Icaraizinho de Amontada beach in Amontada, Ceará, about 200 km from Fortaleza, roughly 3 hours by car. We are open daily, 9 am – 6 pm, and our partner Pousada País Tropical is just a few minutes' walk away.
We work with Duotone and Ozone equipment, renewed regularly. The kite is chosen for your weight and the day's wind, the board for your level, and the harness — waist or seat — for your size. Vest and helmet are part of the kit. All you need to bring is swimwear, water-resistant sunscreen and, if you like, a rash vest.
