You want to learn kitesurfing and you have heard that Icaraizinho is the best place in Brazil for it. That is true — but how many days do you really need? How do the lessons work? This guide answers it all, without the fluff.
Why learn in Icaraizinho?
Icaraizinho brings together the three ideal conditions for learning to kitesurf: strong, steady wind (July to January, peaking from August to October), shallow safe water in the bay, and experienced IKO certified instructors. The combination speeds up learning a great deal.
In more touristy destinations such as Cumbuco, the beach fills up with beginners, which gets in the way of progress. In Icaraizinho the space is wide and calm. You learn quietly and safely.
How many days of lessons to ride on your own?
The straight answer: it takes around 12 hours of lessons to ride independently in shallow water, going through your first water start.
We spread those hours over several days of lessons, with 2-hour sessions. That rhythm lets you absorb each stage without getting physically tired.
People who already practise other board sports (surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding) tend to progress faster.
How lessons work at Cabana do Kite
Our lessons follow the IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) method, recognised worldwide. We always start with safety theory and kite control on land, before any entry into the water.
Every student has radio assistance throughout the lesson — you hear the instructor the whole time, even on the water. That increases safety and speeds up learning.
Lessons can be private or in a duo. For beginners we recommend the private format for the first hours, for the instructor's full attention.
How pricing works
The amount depends on the format you choose — private or duo lesson, hour package — and equipment is included in the lessons. Message us on WhatsApp with your level and your dates: we reply within minutes.
What to bring to the lesson
All you need is swimwear, water-resistant sunscreen and some motivation. All the equipment is provided by the school. A UV rash vest is recommended but optional.
If you wear contact lenses, bring a spare pair — waves and falls can make you lose one.
And after learning?
Once you ride on your own, the Cabana offers equipment rental, secure storage on the beach and guided downwinders along the Ceará coast. Carrying on with your progression becomes simple.
For intermediate and advanced riders we offer one-to-one technical coaching, video analysis and sessions focused on specific tricks — jumps, transitions, waves, strapless.
