Icaraizinho de Amontada is first and foremost a kite spot. But anyone who spends a week in the village finds out that the day does not end when the kite is packed away. Here is what the Cabana do Kite team recommends for the hours off the water.
Things to do in Icaraizinho beyond kitesurfing
This guide sticks to what we know first-hand: the Caetanos lagoons, a visit to the Lençóis Cearenses, buggy trips, fishing, evenings in the dunes, the cultural outing with local crafts and the Mosquito community, the Cabana restaurant and bar, and Pousada País Tropical. No endless list — only what is worth it between two kite or wing sessions.
The Caetanos lagoons
Caetanos is a name Cabana students already know from the downwinders. Without the kite, the Caetanos lagoons are the rest-day outing par excellence: calm water, silence and the Ceará coastline with no hurry. It is the right place for a slower day, after several days of lessons.

The Lençóis Cearenses
The Lençóis Cearenses are the big visit of the region: dunes and lagoons as far as the eye can see, a landscape that changes with the light of the day. Set aside a whole day for it, without trying to squeeze a kite session into the same day.
As for Caetanos, arrange the visit with the team: they know which dates of your stay fit best with a trip to the Lençóis.
Dunes, beach and sunset
No need to go far. Sunset on top of the Icaraizinho dunes is one of the most memorable moments of the trip, and the main beach, in front of the Cabana, becomes a beach like any other when you do not have a kite in your hands: a walk on the sand, a swim — the water is 28 to 30 °C — and the end of the day facing the sea.
The Cabana restaurant and beach bar
The Cabana do Kite restaurant and beach bar is the meeting point of the spot. On the plate, daily specials that change with the fresh catch from the sea, seafood, vegetarian options and house classics; to go with it, caipirinhas, signature cocktails and ice-cold beer. Open daily, from lunch through sunset, with live music at weekends in high season.
It is the place where kitesurfers from all over the world meet, share stories and come back every year — with or without a board under their arm.
Rest at Pousada País Tropical
Pousada País Tropical, the school's partner, is a few minutes' walk from the Cabana, with a pool, a tropical garden and breakfast included. After several days of lessons, a day of pool and hammock is not wasted time: it is the rest your body asks for before going back on the water.
Buggy trip
The buggy trip is the classic way to discover the surroundings of Icaraizinho: dunes, beaches and stretches of coast you cannot see from the village. Cabana do Kite organises the outing with you around your dates and your lesson schedule, so the ride does not steal a good wind window. It is also a good option for anyone travelling with a student without riding. After the buggy, the way back leads to the kite lessons: the school fits the next session into the day that suits best.
Fishing
Fishing has been part of life in Icaraizinho since long before the kites. Going out to fish is a different way of looking at the same sea you ride in the morning: slower, quieter, with the coast seen from another angle. Cabana do Kite offers the fishing outing and helps arrange the day with the team. As with the other outings, the details are settled on WhatsApp. And the next day, back on the water with the kite lessons.
Evening in the dunes
When the sun drops behind the dunes, Icaraizinho changes pace. The evening in the dunes is the Cabana's night-time gathering: climbing up with the group, seeing the village and the sea from above, staying until the light changes and coming back down together. It is the moment when students, instructors and passing visitors mix — many come back every year for that alone. Ask the team which evenings are planned during your stay, and keep the next morning for the kite lessons.
Cultural outing: local crafts and the Mosquito community
To get to know the region differently, Cabana do Kite offers a cultural outing: local crafts, made in the region itself, and a visit to the Mosquito community, a neighbour of Icaraizinho that most visitors never see. It is a quiet programme, ideal for a rest day between two sessions, and a good way to understand where you are riding. Arrange the day with the team on WhatsApp; the school adjusts the kite lessons schedule accordingly.
And back to the lessons
The wind season runs from July to January, peaking from August to October. Between outings, the pages on the kitesurf school, the kite lessons, the wing foil lessons and the Icaraizinho spots help plan the rest of the stay. It takes around 12 hours of lessons to ride independently, and prices are on request on WhatsApp.
