The main kite spots in Ceará
Jericoacoara
The most famous — and the most crowded. Jeri has developed tourist infrastructure, many schools and a classic spot on Lagoa do Paraíso. The downside: high prices, many kites in the air at once and a vibe that feels more urban than rural.
Cumbuco
Thirty kilometres from Fortaleza, Cumbuco is practical for anyone who wants to kite without travelling far from the capital. Good for beginners thanks to the Cauipe lagoon, but rather busy in peak months.
Paracuru
A historic spot of Brazilian kiting, with excellent wind conditions and a strong local community. Less touristy than Jeri and Cumbuco, but with less school infrastructure too.
Icaraizinho de Amontada
The spot that combines everything: quality wind (SE trade winds of 20–30 knots from July to January, peaking from August to October), a shallow flat-water lagoon, few people on the water and an IKO certified school with multilingual instructors. Ideal both for learning and for experienced riders looking for quality without the crowds.
