The official season: July to January
The wind season in Icaraizinho starts in July and runs to the end of January. Over those 7 months the trade wind blows steadily and strongly, reaching between 18 and 30 knots on most days. It is the perfect window for kitesurfing, with more than 90% of rideable days in high season.
The absolute peak of the season falls between August and October. In that period the wind is strong, regular and predictable — perfect both for beginners and for advanced riders after long downwinders and intense sessions.
Month by month: what to expect
July marks the official start of the season. The wind is still settling in, averaging 15 to 22 knots. It is a great month for beginner lessons — gentler conditions and fewer people on the beach.
August, September and October form the peak of the season. Average wind between 22 and 30 knots, guaranteed sun and little rain. Accommodation prices go up, so book ahead.
November still holds strong wind, right after the peak. It is a period appreciated by advanced kitesurfers — ideal conditions for freestyle, big air and epic downwinders along the Ceará coast.
December and January close the season with wind that is still consistent, but with more visitors because of the holidays. International vibe, beach parties and great energy.
February to June is the low season. There is wind, but it is irregular. Recommended only for those after quiet days or passing through the region.
Climate: what to expect beyond the wind
Icaraizinho has a tropical climate all year, with temperatures between 26 °C and 32 °C. During the wind season (July to January), rain is rare and short — it is usually concentrated in February and March.
The sea stays between 26 °C and 28 °C, which means no wetsuit. You can ride in a rash vest or without one all year round.
When to book your trip?
For the high season (August to October) we recommend booking 2 to 3 months ahead. The good pousadas in Icaraizinho are limited and fill up fast.
For July or January, 1 month ahead is usually enough. And if you are flexible on dates, there are always good last-minute opportunities.

Accommodation prices. Pousadas in Icaraizinho adjust their prices to demand. September, October and December/January are the most expensive months. July, August and November offer the best value.
The vibe. In December and January, Icaraizinho welcomes many Brazilians on holiday and Europeans escaping winter. The atmosphere is more festive and international. From August to October it is more focused on kiting, with serious riders from all over the world.
The kind of learning. If you are a beginner, wind between 18 and 22 knots is ideal — neither too light nor too strong. That matches July and early August, and November too. If you are advanced and after jumps and tricks, prefer September to October.
